Icelandic Residency and recent trip to Ireland

10th August 2016

It’s been a while since I have updated my blog and thought it was time I did so. For the month of May I spent in Iceland – spending most of that on the island of Hrisey but also in Reykjavik and Akureyi. Iceland was changing from the the tail end of winter to spring and it was a good time to be there. Spring doesn’t really get going until mid May and then it’s nesting time for the birds! On Hrisey it is a protected place for birds and so the sky is crowded with artic terns, gulls, godwits, and various waders and varieties of ducks. It is also nearly daylight for about 20hrs and doesn’t really get dark then which is very disorientating for your body clock. I will upload albums from my residency which I hope will give a sense of my experience of Iceland.

In July I also spent a few days in Cork and Limerick in Ireland. I always need to spend time in Ireland and it was good to be there. It is the 100th anniversary of the Easter Rising in Dublin in 1916 and Cork had some displays, exhibitions and public art works on show which i found interesting
